Dark Colors are the latest Trends in Window Replacement

December 7, 2016

Trends change and evolve every day. Whether we look at clothing styles, or window replacement & designs, there seems to be a consistent ebb and flow of design trends that come and go, and then sometimes come back again. Right now, in the  window replacement and remodeling industry, people seem to have an eye for contemporary flair. Color palettes combine earth-toned grays, creams, blacks and beige's, and house decor utilizes minimalist furnishings with sleek and modern accents. Paired nicely with these contemporary home models, are the beautiful window designs that give light to the vision.

From the standpoint of a luxury window and door dealer, we can say that color matters. And, the current trend we observe as specialists in window design and installation, tends to lean toward dark exterior colors. Rich colors on a window can give depth to a home and really draw attention to the contrasting tones and hues .

But, there is one concern with these darker exterior colors on windows, and it has to do with the big ball of gasses in the sky. That's right, we all know that sun exposure on wood and other stains and finishes can, over time, be the cause of severe fading and even warping. So, deciding on a richer color for your windows can cause some unwanted stress and anxiety.

The great thing, however, is with Marvin Windows and Doors, you don't have to worry about that. According to their product warranty, the finish is as follows:

"Marvin’s standard exterior cladding finish is warranted against manufacturing defects resulting in chalk, fade, and loss of adhesion (peel), per the American Architectural Manufacturer’s Association’s (AAMA) Specification 2605-11 Sections 8.4 and 8.9, for twenty (20) years."

So, down the road, say 10 to 15 years from the purchase time of your product, your dark, beautiful finish will still look brand new; while other window brand names will appear faded and weathered. This is all part of Marvin's guarantee of quality and service. Even 20 years after the purchase date of your product, Marvin will stand by the appearance and performance of their windows and doors.

Marvin's factory finish is a Kynar 500 FSF resin which provides a long-life coating for materials such as galvanized steel, aluminum and aluminized steel. Here are just a few of the outstanding features Marvin's finish provides:

  • Fluorosurfactant free
  • Extreme weatherability
  • Excellent dirt shedding
  • Superb mildew resistance

If you go with Marvin, you'll see a product that can withstand the test of time. So, in 10 to 15 years, instead of seeing a chipped, faded and rotten window, choose something that will last and look as beautiful as the day you had it installed.
