The New Kushi Wood Edition: A Tribute to Nature

Written by Katie Mientka | January 31, 2020

Kundalini, the innovative Italian lighting brand introduces the Kushi Wood Edition as a “Tribute to Nature.”

In November of 2018, severe storms ripped through the Italian Dolomites, causing “unprecedented damage.” Hardest hit was Paneveggio Park, where legendary luthier Antonio Stradivari collected wood for his violins. Over 1.5 million trees in “Violin’s Forest” were uprooted by 110 mph winds, putting the livelihoods of wood suppliers and instrument-makers who prize the region’s spruce wood, at risk.

The ground was littered with spruce, a waste that tugged at the hearts of wood suppliers, luthiers, musicians, artists, and creators around the world. Motivated to make a “small but significant difference” Kundalini was part of an initiative to recover and recycle part of the felled wood. This became the inspiration behind Kushi Wood Edition.

The Kushi collection is distinguished by two “pure and antithetical elements.” There is a curved blown etched glass diffuser, which lends the lamps a soft charm, contrasted by a rigid rod. Kushi Wood Edition features a wooden skewer, crafted from the reclaimed Violin’s Forest spruce. As Kundalini says, “The small and essential wooden skewer is now serving a noble eco-friendly cause, reminding us that we can draw inspiration from creativity and know how to reinvent ourselves.”

Kushi Wood Edition is an innovative lighting solution that not only combines a beautiful aesthetic but carries on a centuries-old tradition of quality, straight from the Violin’s Forest. It has a story - one that owners can become a part of.

Lorenzo Finestre, which specializes in interior and exterior European doors, windows, light fixtures, and luxury architectural products, is the first order globally for this light and will be the first to display Kushi Wood Edition. To learn more about Kundalini lighting, contact Lorenzo Finestre.
